CHARGE YOUR DEVICES AT UNIVERSITY.
This is one of our favourite hacks at WhichPad which is often over looked by many university students. When you leave the house for university remember to take your charger for your devices and use the university electricity to charge your devices to save on your bills. Your already paying £9000 a year you might as well get the a bang for your buck from your university.
WRAP UP WARM WHILE INDOORS
As the weather turns, you can’t expect to walk around the house in shorts and t-shirt. Wearing lots of layers and wrapping up under blankets helps to keep you warm – not to mention the comfort!
SHOP FOR THE BEST STUDENT DEALS
Energy suppliers offer a wide variation of rates, and you might find that changing suppliers reduces your bill by up to £200 per year! Find who to switch to by searching on energy comparison sites. Switching suppliers is easy and takes less than 15 minutes to complete – plus you can do it all online.
TURN OFF LIGHTS,UNUSED APPLIANCES AND UNPLUG YOUR CHARGER
This is another great way to easily shave pounds off your energy bills. If you or your housemates aren’t in a room and aren’t planning on coming back within a couple of minutes then be sure to turn the lights off to save electricity. Likewise, turn off appliances that aren’t being used and be sure to unplug your chargers (phone, tablet, laptop and more) to save.
PAY BY DIRECT DEBIT
Most energy suppliers will offer a discount if you pay your bills via monthly direct debit. This also allows you to accurately budget throughout the year – you would generally be paying more than you use over summer to build up a credit, then use that credit towards your larger winter usage. This means you should pay the same amount every month.
