The room I stayed in was very comfortable had a lot of space for my belongings. The WiFi signal was very strong and I had no issues with the heating or water. Highly recommend.
Lived in Deanery. It took several follow-ups to get a leaking pipe fixed—around 10 days. The contract explanation was brief, and I had to do some research myself to understand my rights. I didn’t get my full deposit back—£90 was taken for ‘deep cleaning’, even though I left the flat spotless. Disappointed with that part of the experience.
They have a common room that provides multiple activities like table tennis, darts and foosball, however during the year it isn’t used often making it difficult to meet new people.
Halls are all about convenience. Everything’s included, and you’re surrounded by people going through the same uni journey.
Convenience meets community in student halls. Expect fun, shared living, and a taste of independence with a few late-night fire alarms.
Deanery student residence, is the biggest accommodation that Solent University offer. It’s the furthest away from the university amongst the other accommodations. The rooms are spacious but are quite old and dull. Prices have increased over the years making it overpriced. Accommodation team are helpful when things go wrong.
Deanery was a lovely accommodation. With 3 buildings, there was alot of space for everyone to reside.
Deanery Student Accommodation provides a safe, modern, and welcoming environment for students. Its central location is perfect for easy access to campus and city life. The staff are helpful, and the facilities are well-maintained, offering a great balance of comfort, privacy, and community.
This en-suite accommodation is… alright. The room does the job — it’s not huge, but there’s enough space for studying and storage, and having your own bathroom is definitely a plus. Nothing fancy, but it’s functional. The kitchen can get a bit messy depending on who you’re sharing with, but that’s pretty standard in student halls. Maintenance is hit or miss — sometimes they’re quick, other times you’re waiting a few days. Location’s decent, close enough to campus and shops, so getting around is easy. Overall, it’s a pretty average place to live. Not amazing, not terrible — just okay. If you’re not expecting luxury, it’ll be fine.
Hamwic is a lovely accommodation with a beautiful view out into the city centre. Facilities are top notch.
Living in this en-suite accommodation has been a decent experience overall. Having a private bathroom is definitely a plus — it adds a lot of convenience and makes things feel a bit more personal. The room is fairly modern, with enough space for studying and storage, though it’s nothing particularly fancy. Maintenance response has been hit or miss. Sometimes they’re quick, other times you might have to chase them up a bit. It’s not terrible, but there’s definitely room for improvement.
Clean, secure, and well-located student accommodation—great value and friendly management team who are available 24/7.
Hated my whole experience, roommates had no respect for anything. When I tried to move was denied. So just left university.
The en-suite is clean and well put together, you get your own bathroom and the furniture isn’t significantly better than most university halls in Southampton.
Deanery is a nice place to stay especially if you live in the top floor. It has big kitchens and okay sized bedrooms the bathrooms aren’t the best but are okay. My biggest issue was silverfish personally but it’s all about luck really.
The maintenance of this residence was amazing, from the cleaners to the maintenance team they helped with fixes and repairs. The delivery process of parcels made it easier and less stressful if you weren’t around to collect parcels as the accommodation team would accept the parcel and then place it in a locker for pickup later on.
24 hr cctv, really good security and surveillance throughout the day, the common room with multiple activities isn’t used often in comparison to other halls like kimber and chantry
Great night team that provides over night security of the accommodation making me feel more safe, i really like the shared kitchen due to how big it is meaning you can fit up to 8-10 people.
My stay at Deanery was great overall no real complaints. Maintenance team always sorted out any problems I had. Staff were always friendly and helpful when needed. I received my full deposit back.
Deanery is one of the quieter accommodations, which makes it ideal if you’re someone who prefers their own space or needs a peaceful environment to study. It’s clean and well-maintained, and the rooms are a good size—not huge, but comfortable enough. The kitchen and shared spaces are decent, although a bit plain. It’s not known for being overly social, so if you’re looking to party or make loads of friends, you might feel a bit isolated here. That said, it’s only a short walk from campus and town, so location-wise it’s solid. Most people staying here tend to appreciate the quietness and mature vibe.
Deanery had a lovely team on hand 24 hours if there were any issues such as a door fob not working. I never had any maintenance issues except the hot water sometimes and any reported were fixed within the next two days.
Was a nice accommodation to live in, was good to have a cleaner and was a great social spot loads of good students and staff did a good job. Post was easily accessible and had a good little common in the middle of the buildings.
Deanery student residence, is the biggest student residence Solent university provides. It has nice communal areas outside. Rooms are okay, quite spacious but are quite dull. Price is a bit high for what you get.
secure accommodation with a night team and 24/7 surveillance, the common room is packed with various activities however it isn’t used often during the year which makes it harder to make friends
My stay at deanery was one of the best the rooms were nice and the kitchens were always well kept, the cleaner that came to the kitchen every day helped to maintain the kitchen really well and the common room in the accommodation provided a good place for me and my mates to hang out
This place had so many issues with flooding hot water leaving at week periods and electricity cutting out. But it provided a bed and a roof with cheap rent
Rent was cheap for an accom and room size was okay nothing wrong with the accommodation and nothing great just honestly average
Denary was quite far away from the university, however, the multiple buildings and large array of appliances made the distance minimal.
“My room has a really nice view of the city and gets loads of natural light. It makes studying and relaxing so much more enjoyable. Definitely a nice bonus I wasn’t expecting
The university accommodation was disappointing and not worth the price. My room was cramped, poorly ventilated, and the walls were paper-thin. Shared spaces like the kitchen and bathroom were often dirty and rarely cleaned properly. Maintenance requests took ages to be addressed, and staff weren’t very helpful. Overall, it felt more like surviving than living, and I wouldn’t recommend it to future students.
Halls are quite far from campus, Deanery is great because the rooms have en suites but it’s not a very social halls. People tend to keep to their flats.
Staying at Deanery Residence has been an absolute pleasure. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and always willing to help with anything I needed. The rooms are modern, clean, and well-maintained, with everything you’d want for a comfortable stay. The location is also perfect—close to campus, public transport, and local amenities. I really appreciated the sense of community among residents, and the overall atmosphere felt safe and friendly. I’d absolutely recommend Deanery to anyone looking for high-quality student accommodation!
Staying at Deanery Student Residence has been a really good experience overall. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, giving you enough space to study and relax. The location is one of its biggest advantages – it’s close to the university and city centre, so getting around is easy. The building feels secure and safe, and the staff are always friendly and quick to respond if anything comes up. There’s also a nice sense of community, especially in the shared areas where you can meet other students. If you’re looking for a reliable, well-located student accommodation, Deanery is a solid choice.
Deanery Student Residence had a very good social appeal with lots of communal areas to make new friends and be with old friends it was cleaned daily by cleaners so it didn’t get messy. The rooms felt safe with lockable doors and all rooms having en suites but the only issue was the rent being far too high for students as it’s cheaper to get a house.
Living at the Deanery has honestly been one of the best parts of my university experience. The rooms are modern, clean, and surprisingly spacious, with everything you need to feel comfortable and settled. The common areas are perfect for socialising or just relaxing, and there’s a real sense of community here that makes it easy to meet people and feel at home.
Spending my final year at Kimber Student Residence was the perfect way to round off my uni experience. The location was amazing—right in the city centre, with shops, cafes, and nightlife basically on your doorstep. My room was compact but well-designed, and having my own bathroom made all the difference. Plus, the views from the upper floors were genuinely stunning (especially at sunset).
“Staying at deanery accommodation has honestly been such a great experience. The rooms are clean, modern, and well-equipped — perfect for student life. Being so close to campus made it easy to get to lectures on time, and the support from the accommodation team has been amazing!!”
Deanery Accommodation offers a solid living option for students at Solent Southampton University. The location is convenient, making it easy to get to classes and access local amenities. The rooms are generally spacious and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment for studying and relaxing. One of the highlights is the sense of community among residents. There are plenty of opportunities to meet fellow students, whether through organized events or just hanging out in shared spaces. The staff are friendly and responsive, always ready to help with any issues that may arise. Overall, Deanery Accommodation is a great choice for students looking for a supportive and engaging living experience while attending Solent Southampton University.
Deanery is a good student residence provided by Solent University with en-suite bathrooms and a shared kitchen. However, the review is only 3 stars as I find the layout of the accommodation makes it too long for quick access in and out in comparison to Hamwic or Kimber.
Really impressed with how clean and modern everything is. The Wi-Fi is reliable (crucial for deadlines), and the maintenance team is quick to respond to any issues. Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to live during my studies.”
Denary was a nice accommodation; however lacked space, and I wasn’t a fan of the kitchen, and the lack of utilities.
Good location, close to uni and town, where everything is. Small rooms and a dirty kitchen let my experience down.
I was disappointed with my stay at Deanery. While the room was clean, it felt quite dated and lacked some basic amenities I expected, like a proper heating system. The staff were not as friendly as I had hoped, and there was a noticeable lack of attention to detail. The location, while central, was also quite noisy at night, which made it hard to relax. Overall, it didn’t meet my expectations, and I wouldn’t recommend it for those seeking a comfortable and quiet stay.
Very expensive for a very basic and plain room, with a non-working shower and Ethernet port
The room was easy to move into, it’s small, but it is an en-suite, which is something I believe to be very important in student accommodation. The shared kitchen is very large with lots of counter tops and comfy seating areas. The downside is that the water pressure is very low in the shower, and the water is often not hot. The price of the accommodation has also gone up since previous years, which causes students to struggle financially.
I think deanary is one of the best structured buildings; it’s got a nice common room and outside area. However, it can get noisy but that’s a fault from the residence
I enjoyed my stay here. I had all my needs catered for.
Deanery is a multi-building accommodation that is quite simple however, the 3 buildings ensured there was enough space for new renters as well as returning students
Brilliant location close to uni, the accommodation is fully secure, and the things they offer with the accommodation are all excellent for uni students to enjoy.
Deanery is safe, modern, and welcoming—great location, supportive staff, and a strong student community. Highly recommend!
Living in university accommodation was not quite what I expected. While the location was convenient—just a short walk to campus—the experience overall left much to be desired. The rooms were smaller than advertised, and the furniture felt outdated and uncomfortable. It was disappointing to find a worn-out mattress and a desk that wobbled every time I tried to study. The biggest issue, however, was the noise. Thin walls made it nearly impossible to get a good night’s sleep, especially on weekends when other students hosted loud gatherings. Although there were supposed to be quiet hours, they were rarely enforced by the accommodation staff. Additionally, the communal kitchen was often messy, with some flatmates not bothering to clean up after themselves. Maintenance was slow to respond to issues—my heating stopped working during a particularly cold week, and it took nearly four days to get it fixed. For the amount of rent charged, I expected a more comfortable and reliable living
The university accommodation was disappointing and not worth the price. My room was cramped, poorly ventilated, and the walls were paper-thin. Constant fire alarms and even flooded for me this is not the university dream i had of living by myself
The accommodation is regularly maintained by the letting agent, has 24/7 security and allows for proper safety
The rooms are spacious, get your own bathroom; the kitchen shared space is good too. Deanery is a thought-provoking and intricately crafted piece that delves into themes of faith, authority, and personal conflict. With a subtle yet powerful narrative, it captures the quiet tensions of institutional life and the emotional weight carried by its characters. The writing is evocative, drawing readers into a world where moral decisions are never black and white. The characters are richly developed, and the setting—be it spiritual or physical—feels lived-in and authentic. Deanery doesn’t rush its story; instead, it unfolds with patience and purpose, leaving a lasting impression. A compelling read for those who enjoy introspective, character-driven fiction.
It’s not just a place to sleep—it really feels like a small community. I feel connected and supported, especially during stressful times
The best thing about this accommodation was the fact that payment was taken from every term and not every month, which was more beneficial as it would fall in line with the student finance payments, meaning payment was stress-free. The rooms were both comfortable and secure with their key lock system, and the front desk and security were helpful in answering any questions or directing you to the help you needed
Good 24/7 security system, which allows me to feel safe wherever I am within the vicinity. Also like the common room, containing a pool table, table tennis and a dart board, it allows me to meet new people whilst playing fun games like these
