I was living in Chantry and had problems with the bathroom light and extractor fan, which took almost two weeks to fix. The contract was explained in detail and I understood what I was responsible for. Although I didn’t get the full deposit back—£45 was deducted for minor wall scuffs—it was justified with photos. Not the best, but fair overall.
Chantry is a nice accommodation for your first place when you come to uni. it is very affordable however had shared bathrooms.
Honestly, my experience living in this non en-suite accommodation hasn’t been great. Sharing a bathroom with multiple people sounds manageable at first, but in reality, it’s been a constant frustration. The facilities are often left dirty, and despite reporting issues, it takes ages for anything to get sorted. Maintenance requests are slow to be acknowledged, let alone resolved. I’ve had problems with heating and a broken shower head that took over a week to fix—definitely not ideal when you’re trying to focus on uni. The rooms themselves are basic, and while they’re okay size-wise, it’s hard to feel comfortable when the shared areas aren’t up to standard. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re really on a tight budget and don’t mind sacrificing a bit of privacy and comfort.
Chantry offers affordable living close to campus, but frequent maintenance issues and noise can be a downside.
There’s a common room however it’s not used as much in comparison to other university halls around the area which makes meeting new people a bit more difficult when it comes to moving away from home
Chantry has a bit of a reputation for being one of the more social halls at Solent, and honestly, that reputation is pretty accurate. It’s got a friendly atmosphere, and it’s one of those places where you’ll often find people hanging out in kitchens or planning nights out. The rooms aren’t massive, but they’re fine for what you need, and the location is convenient for both uni and the city centre. If you’re not into the party scene, this one might not be for you—it can get noisy, especially on weekends—but if you’re looking to make friends and enjoy the more vibrant side of student life, it’s a great pick.
Chantery at Solent University offers a great living experience! The community is friendly, and the facilities are modern and well-maintained. It’s a perfect place for students to thrive and connect!
Kept extremely clean with cleaners although it is not en-suite it makes up for it in other ways. The cheapest accommodation by far.
The cleanliness is good but not being en-suite is a knock and the shower sucks gets messy all the time and some creeps are weird while you’re in the shower
Cheapest & just been refurbished so it’s so nice you get daily cleaners and has nice little bathrooms/kitchens: although it’s not ensuite… 10/12 minute walk to uni and 5 to shops/highstreet/city centre. 15/20 to clubs. Best common room of all halls.
Nice shared bathrooms, big rooms and nice kitchens, if you have a car, the parking is very safe and secure!
I think this building is one of the smaller ones out the lot which is a downside. It also has shared bathrooms which can be a hassle.
Only some rooms had en-suites and the rest was shared bathrooms and public spaces. The price was a positive however the location being right next to the school was a negative.
Chantry student residence in my personal opinion is the worst residence but for good reason as it is by far the cheapest and most affordable but it’s the only one without en suites and the corridors feel a bit weird when walking through so i’d only recommend it if you can’t afford anything more.
Chantry is really affordable, and the rooms are huge. it is more of a quite accessible for those with disabilities,s etc.
Spending a year at Kimber Student Residence was the perfect option for me. The location was amazing—right in the city centre, with shops, cafes, and nightlife basically on your doorstep. My room was compact but well-designed, and having my own bathroom made all the difference. Plus, the views from the upper floors were genuinely stunning (especially at sunset).
Chantry Accommodation for Solent University is a solid option for students. The rooms are modern and well-furnished, offering a comfortable living space. It’s conveniently located near the university, making it easy to get to classes. The communal areas are great for socialising and studying with friends. Overall, it’s a great choice for anyone looking for student accommodation in Southampton.
Chantry had nice rooms; however, I am not a massive fan of the shared bathrooms. To compensate, they were cleaned every day.
Nice and easy move in, good community, and friendly staff help with any issues that may occur. Security on site to keep all residents safe and secure. Great!!
This is the smallest out of the school buildings. The maintaining crew is quite on point seeing as they show up every morning to cleans halls and kitchens. This is the least breathable space when compared to the other accoms the school provides but it still does the job.
Chantry Student Accommodation lacks en-suite bathrooms, which can be inconvenient for those seeking more privacy. The shared facilities can get crowded, affecting comfort and cleanliness.
The bathrooms were shared and no en-suites. The location is right next to a school, so sometimes it is loud; however, the location is right next to the centre and the university.
The cleanliness was not the best, and the fear of hearing others when showering is not the best. The price is amazing.
The accommodation is regularly maintained by the letting agent, has 24/7 security and allows for proper safety
For everything that’s included—location, amenities, security—it’s actually great value compared to private renting. Zero regrets.
