AP york were terrible at maintaining the property.

We had an exterior garage where we kept our bikes and where our dryer and fridge/ freezer were located. The exterior garage door was not secure and the other entrance was wide open because the door was rusty and difficult to close as it would often get stuck open. We reported this issue many times but when maintenance finally had a look at the problem they half heartedly added a latch to the outside, rather than replacing the hinges or the door as a whole. The latch also was not attached properly and fell off during a storm. Additionally when we had an emergency leak above our boiler and into our kitchen they were hesitant to attend to the issue as it was the weekend – understandable, however they had let us know at the start that we could contact their emergency line over the weekend if necessary which we did. We had to wait till Monday afternoon until they finally came to have a look.

We also had to buy our own Wifi even though Wifi was included in our rent. They eventually refunded us for the months we had been paying for it ourselves.

AP were very unprofessional with their communications as well. One particular email we received when we reported some issues with the house was especially bad. Instead of communicating information in a neutral and professional way they resorted to questioning our intelligence and insulting us for asking about these issues. We were very unhappy.

We did get our deposits back, but this was due to the help received from the external surveyor who helped point out things they would try to charge us over, which we wouldn’t have noticed without his help. He was very unhappy with the lack of maintenance done on the house, especially the black mould in the bathroom (which we also reported several times.)

House was well maintained prior to the start of the tenancy with all issues during the tenancy being resolved promptly and effectively resulting in an enjoyable experience with AP York.

Nice boss man not very easy to please
