Student Choice Plymouth – Student Reviews On Letting Agents

In the beginning of our tenancy there were quite a few issues that were raised which weren’t being addressed, however there has seemed to be a change in staff and now these problems raised have been resolved. Hopefully, these prompt responses will carry on into our tenancy, otherwise no other complaints.

booking, key collection and check out were all easy and well organised. communication and response to issues could have been better. our house had lots of problems (mice, mould, leaks and one persons ceiling collapsing) but the landlord was very nice and always tried his best to solve issues quickly. i would recommend them as a letting agency but i would definitely look close at the house you want to rent so you can see if there are any issues – try and speak to the people who live there so you don’t get stuck in a not so great situation.

At first was good, started having issues such as a kitchen and bedroom leaks, things were not being chased up then we were informed of a new management team and now all issues are being sorted

The flat itself is nice but I have had serious issues with mould since moving in, along with other issues. Lots of my clothes got damp and mouldy while in storage.

I have found student choice are a good letting agency when it comes to sourcing options to live in. However in current accommodation ongoing problems and new ones are very slow to be sorted and fixed. This has brought down my review but the location to everything in Plymouth are incredible

Our house was a 5 man house not too far from the Aldi on North Hill. Upon turning up to the house one of the upstairs bathroom ceiling was covered in black mould. Despite mould recurring throughout the house the agency did come and sort the problem within a decent time. They also fixed a broken sink pretty quickly. Overall, the rent we payed for the house was ok even if the house was in an Ok condition. It could do with some sort of refurbishment not just a lick of paint over everything.

The house was in good condition apart from no back gate. They took their sweet time getting it fixed but now looks good. For some reason added another random door but that doesn’t make a difference. House didn’t come with a tv which is a shame. Nice and easy paying rent. Couldn’t collect the keys on a Sunday as it was shut despite it being peak moving in time. Probably my fault tbf.

Student homes in plymouth is great! No deposit needed and it’s a smooth process. the landlords are very kind and deal with situations very quickly. i highly recommend!

One of the rooms in the house had such bad consistent mold the person in the room became unwell. This is after weeks and weeks of emailing and ringing them to fix the issue. As a whole any issue they were very slow to fix

I lived with student choice for two years, never had any issues & anything that was wrong they quickly came and sorted it. They had no additional hidden costs & were upfront & honest about everything. I couldn’t recommend them more!

Throughout the tenancy, the agency maintained the house well, though somewhat inconsistent with property visits whether that was for house viewings or house maintenance purposes (fire alarm inspections etc) meaning they would schedule a house visit but not show up. None of the rooms had curtains, upon my request for curtains for my room only, they were happy to provide and install those for free (though did take a few weeks/a month to actually come and install them). All window blinds in the house were rusted and therefore out of use. At the beginning of the tenancy, the back of the house had scaffolding which was promised to be taken down as soon as possible, however, even after work on the house was completed, the scaffolding was not taken down for several months despite myself and other tenants reaching out about it (could be due to construction company rather than the agency’s fault). Two months after myself and other tenants had moved out, the agency had sent us a damages charge. The damages did not exist at the time I moved out (a week before end of tenancy). Upon request for photographic evidence of damages, they agreed to provide evidence but ultimately failed to do so under the explanation that “damages were hard to see on camera”, they did provide a receipt of the charge they had to pay to repair the damage. House itself was not bad, initially had an odd smell, very damp, windows would often be wet from condensation, mold was present (which they had been made aware of but important to mention that I let them know that I am able to take care of the mold myself with anti mold sprays).

Student choice are very slow when it comes to responding to problems that you report. We were left with no freezer for 2 months because they wouldn’t send anyone out.

Nice houses for higher budgets, some communication issues for maintenance. Quality of the house was good when moving in

super helpful and gave loads of options when viewing a 3rd year house

They fixed our utilities fast however there was lots of stuff broken in the first place. When people came to fix it, it was often without notice.

“In my experience, I found Student Cribs to be a good letting agent overall. I appreciated that they were easy to communicate with and offered decent pricing, which are both important factors when looking for a place to rent. However, I deducted one star because they didn’t show up to our house viewing and my friends and I had to wait outside for over 30 minutes. We were able to knock on the door and get a tour of the property from one of the tenants, which was a positive aspect of our experience. Overall, I believe that Student Cribs is a reliable letting agent that offers good services. However, I do think they could improve their communication and punctuality. Based on my experience, I would give them a rating of 4 stars out of 5.”

Really easy to work with and make sure to give you all details about the house. Lots of choice however make sure to get in early with your decisions as usually get taken very early.
