My experience so far has been amazing with friendly and helpful staff as well as a modern and cosy house, I really can’t fault them! I’d definitely recommend.

It is the best student house that I have lived in during my four years at university. In previous years I lived in other houses from different landlords in Cathays and there is really no comparison. John Winter houses are of an outstanding quality and Joe and Ollie are fantastic. I signed for my house whilst on a year abroad in Austria and I could not have asked for a better service from John himself and Joe, the lettings manager. I was able to sign my contract electronically and send the cheques in the post. Within a few days my house for final year was sorted and this was a huge relief to myself and my parents considering that I was not studying in Cardiff at the time. Additionally, there are absolutely no bond feeds or agency fees. John Winter is the only landlord that offers this. The John Winter house was a three-bedroom house in Cathays. The house was very secure, immaculate and modern. The kitchen was fully equipped with a dishwasher and an American fridge-freezer. Most other student houses do not offer these luxuries. Our living room was a very good size and the house was carpeted throughout which added to the home environment. The bedrooms were very spacious and each room had a double bed with a memory foam mattress which was perfect. All bedrooms were equipped with a large desk, a wardrobe and cupboards. Living in a John Winter house was like living in a proper home, not just a house. The finishing touches and attention to detail were second to none. Relatives and friends who visited my home were astounded by the quality of the furnishings. All of my university friends who were not renting from John Winter were very jealous of my home and visited as often as they could to enjoy the home comforts! I cannot stress enough how wonderful the team are at John Winter. They went above and beyond what I would have expected from any landlord. Joe, the lettings manager, replied to any of my queries instantly and he was extremely professional and very friendly. John Winter has its very own maintenance man, Ollie, who was fantastic! If we had any problems such as a broken bulb he would come to our house that same day to fix it- often within ten minutes. I would recommend John Winter above any other landlord! Please do not look elsewhere!!! I promise that you will not be disappointed!

Renting my first student house with John Winter and it’s been a great experience so far! Such an easy and friendly company to deal with and the house is brilliant. Someone’s always on hand to deal with any questions or maintenance issues too, which has been super helpful!

I moved into a John Winter house for my second year of university. I do not have any brothers or sisters so the process was one that neither my parents or I were familiar with. The house viewing process was smooth, me and my housemates found a home that suited us just fine and met all of our pre-established requests. We had a couple of minor teething issues at the start of term but they were dealt with quickly and easily. Other than that we have absolutely no complaints. The houses are marginally more expensive than others around but the quality of the service has justified this small extra cost.

I was so lucky to have had John Winter as my landlord. No stress, no deposit, amazing service and a lovely house. I would recommend to anybody, definitely the best in Cardiff!

John Winter and his team are so helpful and understanding. I’ve had issues with people dropping out of the group that we were going to get a house with and John couldn’t have dealt with it better; offering us advice and helping to house us for third year in a smaller group than originally planned. The maintenance team usually come over as soon as they are contacted or not long after, and the houses are all lovely. I would always recommend John Winter for anyone looking for an easy and stress free student housing experience.

This has been my first year with john winter in my third year of living in Cardiff as a student and I just wish I had come across John winter when I was looking for a house for my second year, they worked there best to find us a house that suited us and our budget. John and his team have been so helpful and have responded well and quick to any problem we may of had. To get hold of john and his team is super easy, whether it may be through text or Facebook you’re not left in the dark about anything.

This has been my first year living as a John Winter tenant, and I regret not choosing to go with them before my final year of uni. I cannot fault them as landlords, any maintenance issues are addressed almost immediately and all members of staff are approachable and willing to help. Nothing is kept a secret, no sudden bills or fees are thrown upon you. John regularly keeps in contact with all of his tenants to inform them of anything happening we need to know about – so there are no surprises. The houses themselves are modern, clean and worth their value for money. We always get complimented on how nice our house is ‘for a student house’. Overall, I highly recommend John Winter if you want a landlord with no surprises, no agency fee or bonds, and hassle free living, which as a student is near impossible to find!

John Winters is the biggest con of all in student rents – it’a nothing but advertising to hide that you’ll be harassed and ripped off at every opportunity and treated like a stupid child. That is unless you have breasts then your landlord will walk in your house whenever he wants to ogle you, someone needs to tell these people that women don’t pay their rent with their bodies in this century. Their workmen aren’t any better, always looking to come on to you. Don’t bother viewing with them if your all boys or a boy and girl group because you’ll get messed around to make you lose interest. Same goes if you anything other than white and posh. A disgusting, sexist, racist, snobby, greedy agency that has no right to trade and should be under investigation by the authorities. Better houses out there with regular agencies and you won’t be mistreated in such a degrading way. Avoid.

Between signing and moving it. Something funny going on, looks like people have left. Creepy son of owner in the office has no personality and nobody seems to care about you any more. Seems a bit like a business slowly winding itself up as the boss gets too old to carry on. Won’t be signing for another year as it feels like it will probably all be sold off over next summer, need stability for finals thanks.
