Used Your Move to rent a nice shared property. All went very smoothly to start, viewed the property twice. Once let was agreed, one tenant was called by letting agent asking for 6 months rent in advance. She replied that we would not pay this and the letting agent said they would talk to the landlord. We heard nothing more about it. When we came to collect keys, they were expecting 6 months rent in advance and we were faced with the prospect of having nowhere to live if we didn’t pay. After 2 hours of discussion, we eventually agreed to pay 2 months rent in addition to security deposit. We then made a formal complaint to the agency, which they failed to respond to. We then took it to the Property Ombudsman who upheld our complaint and ordered them to pay compensation. They did not manage property, so cannot comment on this. We had no problems at the end of the tenancy. The landlord did not use them to relet the property and we stayed well clear of them when looking for our next property.
