Sarah Mains, has been a below-standard letting agency and landlord over the past 6 months. Despite being quick to attend to small fixes eg., a broken freezer draw, we have had very poor communication and an incredibly slow turnaround time to fix things that don’t fall under our responsibilities as tenants. Examples include an outbreak of black mould, which was a problem when we first moved into the house. After emailing several times and multiple attempts to rectify the matter ourselves, we are still in the same position, which is a health hazard, with no help from Sarah Mains. Another issue was our upstairs shower room, which was out of action for over 3 months. Again, we made it clear that there was an issue on multiple occasions, but the turnover time to fix this was over 3 months!

This year our landlords have been poor in almost every aspect apart from the price (which is average). Our shower was broken when we moved in and the problem was only attempted to be fixed 3 months later. After they attempted to fix it the problem still persisted due to poor maintenance and pipe work on the house. Still to this day the pipes are clogged up so the water in my sink doesn’t run. We have also got a black mould issue in our living room which we tried to fix ourselves but nothing worked. Months down the line, we have emailed over 3 times and each time they have told us that we have to fix it even though it was there before we got there. Also within their T&Cs, they mention that we have to “weed” the garden however the house came like this. In my opinion, the landlords know that they can leave the house in a below-standard condition then they can keep the deposits at the end. Our previous landlords were much faster in repairing the house and looking after us.
