Fox and Sons made me and 5 others homeless
1.0

We secured a property with Fox and Sons February last year. We paid the holding fees, signed paperwork, had out guarantours sign paperwork. We were set to move in on the 1st of September. We weren’t told there was any issues until 2 days before our move in date, when we got an email telling us that the house wasn’t ready because of building work and could we wait an extra week. We were told at the initial viewing that another room was being built. I had to be in Brighton on the 3rd so came down and stayed on my friends sofa until the new proposed move in date of the 8th. We visited the house we were meant to move into and saw it had been basically ripped apart. It was not the inhabitable house we had viewed. 5 days AFTER our initial move in date of the first we were then informed that the landlord had withdrawn the property completely and we would have to find somewhere else to live before term started. They offered no support in finding somewhere and no remorse for our situation. I asked them to provide me with emergency accommodation and told them i was now in Brighton with nowhere to stay. I was essentially homeless. They didnt care and eventually stopped responding to our messages. We managed to find a property in the next 2 weeks, no thanks to Fox and Sons. They also took 10 days to return the money we had paid them meaning we went into our overdrafts paying the deposit for the other property to a different agency. We are demanding Fox and Sons compensate us for having to find a more expensive property at the last minute and causing us a huge stress, and leaving me homeless sleeping on sofas for 2 weeks. There is an ongoing campaign. I would not reccommend them to anyone. Stay away. They will rip you off and take advantage of students.
